Some brief information regarding your THEORY, HAZARD PERCEPTION and PRACTICAL Tests
HOW to Book Your Practical Test
Before taking your Practical Test, you must pass a Theory and Hazard Perception Test to obtain your Theory Certificate.
Lost your Theory Test Certificate Number?
This is a multiple 50 question test.To pass, you must answer 43 or more questions correctly within 57 minutes. Your Last 3 questions will be asked based on a video clip.
Part 2 of your Theory Test and contains a seies of 14 one minute video clips showing potential road hazards. You have to indentify 15 developing hazards of which one will contain two hazards. You need to spot these quickly, and score at least 44 out of 75 to pass this test.
THE PRACTICAL TEST:
This is your big day! Make sure you have your Provisional licence, Theory Test Certificate and Cofirmation of your test when you arrive for your test.
Tests are now assessed on an I Pad.
Try to RELAX!! The Examiner will call your name, Check your Driving Licence and you will have to sign a declaration of insurance and Health on a slip of paper which will be supplied. After an eye test which involves reading a vehicle number plate at a minimum distance of 20.5 metres, you will be asked to answer a 'Tell Me' question rergarding a simple vehicle safety check. The Examiner will then lead you over too the car, check the vehicle is roadworthy, then ask you if you would like more information on what the test involves. If you have any questions....AsK!!
Then you will be on the road for about 38-40 minutes and will have to carry out a 20 Minute Independant Drive. This will consist of either, following a route from a Sat Nav or, Road Signs. You will also be asked to carry out a 'Show Me' excercise, operating one of the Ancillary controls.(EG:Wash windscreen). One Exercise involving reversing, and maybe an emergency stop. Just imagine your instructor along side you! Good Luck!
